do you think that students should be able to listen to thier ipods, mp3 players, etc in school?

I’m a student in high school and our school has a rule against listening to ipods, mp3 players, etc during school time hours. I personally feel that listening to music helps me to concentrate during homework and think it would be the same for classwork. Music helps me to block out noisy people during class. What are your thoughts on this?

Yes, but only during lunch or before/after class. There’d be too much disruption if you could listen to music in class.

Yeah but only when the teacher says you can and in the halls/lunch/study halls. That’s how it is for my school.

Music is awesome because math class is sooo boring and music helps livin’ things up.
The school has no right to ban ipods and mp3′s because if it helps students work, then its a good thing. As for those moochers who dont care about their work and ipods in school makes them worse, well, who cares? it’s THEIR problem, THEIR grades.

yeah i actually concentrate more too. i cant work at home without my music on and i tune people out which makes me more in the zone to think :)

yeah i agree. but i understand why we cant cause then we would never listen when the teacher had to talk.

but when she isnt talking then definitely

kids are going to get away with it regardless, might as well make it okay. though i agree that if a teacher says no to ipods in class, they can have strict punishments for breaking the rules. highschoolers need to be smart.

    No-would interfere with your teacher.
Think it should be okay during lunch period or free periods you may have.

I agree too. My school dosent allow them because they say if they later get lost or stolen, they’d have to pay fro the music players. Lame excuse, I know! Although, that dosnt stop us from bringing them! We had a teacher last year that let us listen to them on our finals though.
I think they have those rules also because kids can easily say they want to listen to them during a test and they could have recorded the test review on their Mp3!
