What is your general opinion on refurbished or “recertified” mp3 players?

I’m looking at an mp3 player, and I’m trying to decide if i want to buy the refurbished one. It is $180 compared to the $220 one new. I have always believed that refurbished is just as good as new, but I want your opinion. Is it worth it?

I think it’s worth it. I buy lots of used items on ebay. They often still work as good as they were when the person first bought them. I’m not sure, but i think refurbished means that the person sent the mp3 player back. Then the store repaired it. I could be wrong.

I’ve always had luck on refurbished equiptment. They last as long as new, usually. For $40 bucks, it may be worth it. Just be sure that the place you get it is reputable, and has a free limited warrantee, unless you opt for the extended. You don’t want to be left with a broken piece of crap. I’ve gotten refurbished MP3 players in the past (nothing as high end at $180), and they’ve done really well.

A refurbished item has been returned to the manufacturer and has been gone over, checked out, repaired if necessary and placed for resale. Just like a used car, and just like a used car, you should know from whom you are making the purchase as far as being trustworthy, etc. Hope this helps

I **** to burst the bubble, but I had bad luck
with “refurbs”.. I ended up eventually returning it or
    throwing it out..

Save a few extra bucks and buy new!
